I don't use KVM switches, but many friends do. In short: They work on
Wintel PeeCees, but be prepared for strange results with everything
else. Even with PeeCees when only the OS is not some kind M$ Windows.
Not to talk about "strange" things like RS/6000, HP9000, SGI, ...
I found software solutions quite usable. If I want to work on the
non-serial console I connect a monitor to the system. I have long "high"
quality extension cables for this. Keyboard and mouse can be redirected
by programs like
http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ and
http://ftp.digital.com/pub/Digital/SRC/x2x/
