Could this have anything to do with the weird messages my mailer has
been blocking from the list, recently, that come in with multiple
Message-Id: headers (forbidden) containing different IDs (very wrong)?

Here, for example, are the two ID headers from a rejected message I
managed to capture in the recent "eBay vrs42" thread:

Message-ID: <BAY0-SMTP08FD69B774DE6DD91B6362B2680_at_phx.gbl>
Message-ID: <060c01c510c5$81a4f380$6700a8c0_at_vrshome.msn.com>
