I just plug them into my floppy drive alignment fixture (a ProtoPC
device.) The High Density drives have 80 steps and the Low Density
drives have 40 steps.

This doesn't distinguish between HD and 'Quad Density' drives, but Quad
Density (720K 80 track 5-1/4" drives) are rare. There's one in my Altos
586, tho.
