As someone that does do Ebay (or a good percentage) as a career, I can say
there is probably less time to track all these auctions, shill, collude
with buyers and sellers, shield bids, and all of the other evils. Just
not enough time in the day.

I think a lot of people see normal effects (for example, my "come out of
the woodwork" effect of a previous post), and think there is foul play
behind it - a huge network of seller conspiracy. Nope, just Occam's Razor
- the simple reason is generally more correct.
