CRT mold [was: HP2648 heartbreak]

Maybe the mold simply breaks the bond between the
RTV-like goo and the safety glass.

This is what we see, the tiny gas-filled gap detracting the light.
Probably not the mold itself, just its effects on the goo.

Inserting a tool into the goo also breaks this bond between goo
and glass, so it looks very much the same.
