If you're just starting collecting, I think you'd want to know why a
machine is considered by others to be collectable, as opposed to just
being told, "this machine is significant so go collect it". Unless the
collector puts some effort into researching the background of each machine
and figuring out why its notable, you're just a "collecotr" in the
blandest sense. But, to each his own.
