I am sure others will have better answers, but I will toss out a few.

Find someone to haul it for you, or do it yourself. I would "meet" someone
in Arizona before shipping 100 lbs to Texas.

Greyhound, yes the bus, they take stuff all the time, but prices may not
suit all types of stuff.

UPS "century" this is the heavy side of UPS and may only be available to
business users.

Make a cash deal with a trucker. One of my friends just did this, drove to
the warehouse district and asked around telling people what he needed and
when, then pulled out the cash. Less than $500 for a 40 foot trailer load
going from central CA to Orange county.
