Not to mention they used 440 volt power.

Anyway, I used to be a tech on these (although I haven't seen one since
1986...) and they're a really slick piece of packaging and design.

I consider them one of the most successful Vaxes, despite the delay in
the 11/790 um 8600's production.

The rumor is the 8650 is what the 8600 was supposed to be, but they
couldn't get the speed up originally.
