DataVue 25

I'm trying to get a DataVue 25 'lunchbox' machine up & running. This
strange little machine has, of all things, an infrared keyboard. I know the
PCjr had one as well, but still it seems unusual for the era.

In any event, I am unable to get the IR kb to do anything at all. Typing
produces no output, and yes I have installed a fresh set of batteries. Does
anyone have any experience with this model?

I once remember seeing a little card that was used to test TV remotes. It
was treated with some substance that would fluoresce when struck with IR.
Can someone tell me where to find such an item? Seems like a good place to
start, so I can see if it's a transmission or reception problem.
