I've always used Adaptec boards on both PC's and Mac's,
including on the junk Compaq laptop I had for a while, and never had
a problem. Adaptec even sent me a free BIOS ROM upgrade in the mail
a few years ago to break the 2GB barrier on a 1522A. My current
G3/450 has both a 2940U2B and a 2930U installed.
